Councillor Jim Palm was born and raised in Nanaimo, BC. While enrolled in Education at the University of Victoria he was a member of the varsity soccer Vikes.

Jim moved to Powell River in 1984 to start his teaching career with School District 47 and is presently a Career Coordinator at Brooks Secondary School. Jim has been very active over the past decade in the formation and ongoing support of many new programs, such as Coast Mountain Academy, P.R. Digital Film School, Dual Credit Trades and Academics, which provide students will a variety of options to connect with their passion.
