The Planning Services Department works proactively to address current and future planning challenges and opportunities, and to provide direction for decision-making that will lead to long term environmental, economic, social, and cultural sustainability.

Long-Range Planning Overview

Planning Services works closely with other City departments to:

• Implement and update the Sustainable Official Community Plan (SOCP),

• Develop policies and regulations to support the SOCP and our Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP),

• Encourage the development of housing of all types and tenures, including affordable housing, and

• Protect our heritage resources.
