What is my Carbon Footprint?
What is my carbon footprint?
Find out how big your personal carbon footprint is with our carbon calculator. You will need to enter the following information:
• Fuel use or kilometers driven for your vehicle
• Hydro bills
• Heating bills
• Air travel distances
• Other fuel use (off road vehicles, boats)
The calculator will show how many tonnes of greenhouse gases (GHGs) your lifestyle emits per year.
You can compare your carbon lifestyle with Sherry, Bob, and Ella.
All the calculations are based on the 2018 BC Methodological Guidance for Quantifying GHG Emissions published by the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.
What should I aim for?
The latest IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) scientific emission reduction targets are a 45% reduction in emissions by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050. This translates to about 2.5 tonnes per person by 2030 and includes the footprints of food production, housing, transportation, consumer goods, recreation, and services such as insurance and internet.
