Powell River Community Response Fund

Overview

First Credit Union, Powell River & District United Way and Powell River Community Foundation, with support from the Regional Social Planner, representing the City of Powell River, qathet Regional District, and Tla’amin Nation, have launched the Community Response Fund (CRF) to support our community through the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of the CRF is to support local community service charities and not-for-profits and meet the urgent needs of vulnerable individuals and families affected by COVID-19.

Granting Priority Areas

The CRF will support local charities and not-for-profits providing services to vulnerable people affected by the pandemic. Services may include but not limited to: food security; financial wellness; health and hygiene; home care or personal support services; information and navigation; legal supports; mental health and wellness; shelter; safety; social inclusion and learning, and transportation.

How Grants Are Awarded

The CRF partners have set up an Advisory Committee to assess funding requests and make final awards. The Committee is made up of volunteers with collective and complementary knowledge, and dedication to ensure funding goes where it is needed most. Based on the nature of the funding request, we draw on the appropriate expertise of the Committee Advisors to make granting decisions that respond best to community need.
