Legislative and Freedom of Information Assistant

The City of Powell River is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual for the position of Legislative and Freedom of Information Assistant. Reporting to the Deputy Corporate Officer, you will be responsible for a variety of legislative and administrative duties to provide support to Council, the Chief Administrative Officer, the Corporate Officer and Deputy Corporate Officer.

This is a position with a Monday to Friday, 35-hour work week, and an annual salary range of $55,080 - $59,058. We offer a competitive extended health, dental, and Employee & Family Assistance package that is wholly paid for by the employer and a superior pension plan. Employees have unlimited access to the Recreation Complex gym/swim/skate facilities during public hours, as well as unlimited drop-in fitness classes.

Ideally, you hold a Diploma in Public Administration or related discipline along with three years of related experience working directly with the public, councils, boards, senior staff, committees and commissions preferred. A high degree of computer literacy with experience working in a Windows based environment with in-depth working knowledge of current Microsoft Office Suite [Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook] is required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Preference may be given to candidates with experience working with FOIPPA and/or the Personal Information Protection Act.
