The Board of Variance consists of three Council appointed members and functions independently of Council.
The Board of Variance deals with:
Undue hardship caused by: a) Zoning Bylaw regulation related to the siting, size, or dimension of a building; and b) the prohibition against structural additions or alterations to a legal non-conforming use.
Development that is minor in nature.
The Board also deals with matters related to land use, density limits, parking variances or landscape variances, but cannot vary the use or density provisions of the bylaw.
