Townsite Development Permit Area

Status: Public consultation. Draft bylaws received First Reading.

While Townsite National Historic District is recognized for its significant heritage contributions, nearly all of the buildings in the neighbourhood lack heritage protections. Short-Term Rentals

Status: Council consideration.

Based on community concerns, staff began monitoring the number of short-term rentals in City of Powell River in 2016. Based on the rapid increase of short-term rentals offered, the City conducted some best practices research and community engagement in late 2017 through early 2017. Based on results of the study, Council directed staff to develop regulations to moderately expand short-term rentals. Learn more…
