The City of Powell River has been served notice of an application to the BC Supreme Court under Section 153 (5) (b) of the Local Government Act

The petitioner, candidate Allan Drummond, is alleging that the election of City councillors should be declared invalid for having not been conducted in accordance with the Act and is asking the Court to annul it. The petitioner is not challenging the validity of the election for Mayor or School Trustees.

Media Release - New term of City Council begins with Ceremony


City of Powell River’s newly elected Mayor and Council were sworn in at the inaugural City Council meeting held Tuesday, November 6 at the Powell River Recreation Complex.
 
Mayor David Formosa was sworn in for his third term in office as Mayor after having served one term previously as a City Councillor. Councillors Maggie Hathaway and Jim Palm were sworn in for their fourth terms, Councillors CaroleAnn Leishman and Rob Southcott were sworn in for their second terms and Councillors Cindy Elliott and George Doubt will serve their first terms on Council.
