Powell River's Smart Cities Challenge Proposal

Powell River’s Smart Cities Challenge Proposal

The City of Powell River has entered the Smart Cities Challenge, which is a national competition sponsored by Infrastructure Canada to establish four smart cities in Canada.

Powell River is competing for the $5 million prize, offered to cities with populations smaller than 30,000 residents. After a public consultation process, the Powell River Smart Cities Challenge application was written, outlining: the creation of an Entrepreneur Hub; the creation of a business database and app; a program to attract knowledge workers to the City of Powell River.

After submission to the federal government, the City of Powell River application was deemed to be eligible for the Smart Cities Challenge and will be sent to a jury for adjudication. As part of the process, entries going for jury selection must post the first 10 questions of the application online. The following are the first 10 questions in the proposal as stipulated by the Smart Cities Challenge.
